Roof Rack Systems Mount Racks And Storage Solutions On Your Vehicle:

These Roof Racks and Boxes require a set of Roof Rack Crossbars (mounted to factory side rails or accessory feet) to attach to your vehicle. This page guides you through the process of selecting the equipment that is necessary to create a Roof Rack System for your vehicle.

Roof Rack Systems Are Made Up Of Several Parts:

	Roof Rack Feet - attach to factory side rails, factory or aftermarket channel rails, or directly to the roof of your vehicle. (4) Feet hold (2) Cross Bars.
	Fit Kits - are small metal hardware pieces that mate Roof Rack Feet to your vehicle's channel rails or bare roof. They are used to allow one standard set of Feet to work on many different vehicles. Fit kits are not necessary when mounting to factory side rails.
	Roof Rack Cross Bars - run from left to right across the roof of the vehicle. They are held in place by the Roof Rack Feet. Cross bars come in square, round, and oval (aero) shapes depending on the manufacturer and style. Some vehicles come with factory cross bars that are already attached to the factory side rails.
	Lock Cores - are mounted in the Roof Rack Feet to lock the Feet to the vehicle's factory side rails, factory or aftermarket channel rails, or the bare roof. Lock cores are included with some manufacturer's roof rack feet and need to be purchased separately for others. Please check whether locks are included with the feet of your choice.

Inno Roof Rack Systems

Inno Roof Rack Systems are purchased in (2) parts: roof rack cross bars and roof rack feet (which include locks and fit kits if applicable). Use the Inno Fit Guide to determine the roof rack feet, fit kit, and cross bars that are made to fit your specific Vehicle. The fit guide will provide you with links to arrive at the correct product pages for the parts that you need.

Rhino Rack Roof Rack Systems

Rhino Rack Roof Rack Systems are purchased as entire sets. You get the proper roof rack cross bars, feet, fit kit, and lock cores for your vehicle all in one set. Use the Rhino Rack Fit Guide to determine the Roof Rack Cross Bar Set for your specific vehicle. After you have this information from the Fit Guide, come back to this page and click on the Roof Rack Series below. If your Roof Rack Cross Bar Set requires a fit kit, you will be asked to choose it from the drop down menu on the page for your Roof Rack Series.

Thule Roof Rack Systems

Thule Roof Rack Systems are purchased in (3) parts: roof rack cross bars (square or aero), roof rack feet (which include fit kits if applicable), and lock cores. Use the Thule Fit Guide to determine the roof rack feet, fit kit, and cross bars that are made to fit your specific vehicle. Follow the instructions below:

1. Click on the Thule Fit Guide. Click on Multi-Purpose Roof Rack. Then Find:

a. The correct feet for your specific vehicle.
Choose feet for square cross bars (steel rolled load bars) or oval cross bars (rapid aero).

b. The correct cross bars for your specific vehicle.
Choose square cross bars (steel rolled load bars) or oval cross bars (rapid aero).

c. The correct fit kit (if applicable) for your specific vehicle. Enter in the drop down menu on the product page for your Roof Rack Feet.

4. Remember that the Thule Lock Cores are sold separately. You will need to order the Set of 4 Lock Cores to lock all (4) of your roof rack feet to your vehicle. Order the Lock Cores on this page:

If you purchase another Thule product at the same time (for example a bike rack or kayak rack), additional Lock Cores may be necessary to secure it to your roof rack cross bars. Order the total number of Lock Cores that you need as a set and they will all come keyed the same. If you already own a Thule product and would like the Lock Cores for your new Roof Rack System to be keyed the same, please provide us with the number from the face of your existing Lock Cores and we will get the new ones to match.

Roof Rack Systems Specialty Cases

If you own a 2 door or 3 door (2 door with hatchback) vehicle and need to mount a roof rack system to the bare roof, you may require a short roof adapter kit. These compact vehicles have dramatically curved rooftops and short mounting areas (they don't have rear doors to mount the second set of feet). Some Trucks and Minivans also require the short roof adapter kit. They don't have rear doors to mount the second set of feet.  Only two of our manufacturers, Inno and Thule, offer a short roof adapter kit. 

The adapter is used to increase the width of the spacing between the front and rear crossbars to 28 inches.  The adapter kit consists of 2 short bars that run front to back on the vehicle, and a set of 2 feet that will clamp onto the front door opening along with 2 of the original feet. The clamps are removed from the other 2 original feet.  They will simply rest of on the back end of the roof, connected to the bars of the short adapter.  As you can see from the photos below, you will now have three points of contact (3 feet) on each side of the vehicle. The additional spacing gained will allow you to safely mount any roof top racks or carriers onto the crossbars.
